An open source video editor where the timeline listens. Type what you want. HITE plans the cuts, applies the effects and renders the file. Bring your own key from eight providers. Self-host it, fork it, break it.
HITE started in April 2026 as a paid product, with an early-bird page. On 25 Aug 2026 I made it open source. HITE's own code is MIT; rendering uses Remotion and ffmpeg under their own licences.
Before it went open source I audited my own repo the way an enemy would. Seven P0 and 28 P1 defects, including a core loop that had never planned an edit in production. Seventy-two commits later the test suite went from 375 to 1,577, the lint gate came back from the dead, and row-level security was proven by watching it fail.
The demo video showcases what HITE can do: a prompt typed in plain English, five tool calls flying to the timeline, the edit landing on the beat. Ninety-six seconds, sound on.
